But the rise was mainly confined to the larger companies, which also did better in London, as growing evidence of a US recovery pushed bond yields up and more money into commodities. The smart money says renewed strength at the junior end won't materialise at least until early next year and possibly a lot further out than that. But as Our Man in Oz reports, Goldman Sachs now reckons miners are 40 per cent cheaper than banks. That's a valuation gap that's got to close at some stage.
