News: October 03, 2012 Simba Energy Adds Chad To Its Collection Of Early Mover Licences Across Africa   Simba Energy is continuing its land grab across Africa, this month adding three blocks in Chad to its collection.  Eighteen months ago the Canadian start-up had just one asset, a hydrocarbon reconnaissance permit in Liberia covering the entire onshore Roberts-Bass Basin.  Today, the TSX Venture-quoted company, which is eyeing an AIM listing next year, holds frontier acreage in the Republic of Guinea, Mali, Liberia, and Kenya (with an application outstanding in Ghana), with Block 2A in Kenya the jewel in the crown. News: October 02, 2012 Roxi Petroleum Looks To Brighter Future In Kazakhstan As Production Mounts And It Readies For Exciting Pre-Salt Drilling When Clive Carver, chairman of Roxi Petroleum, presented at the September oilbarrel.com conference in London, it was clear that this was a company on the brink of a new start.  In fact, it would be truer to say that the new start actually began in June with the US$30 million farm-out of its BNG licence in Kazakhstan to KNOC but it is only now that the AIM-quoted company is really getting into its stride while the coming months could see a real step change. News: October 01, 2012 Global Energy Development Has Mixed Success Using New Technology On Its Heavy Oil Acreage In Colombia Like a lot of interim results statements, the release about the six months ended June 30 2012 from Global Energy Development is full of incidental  information which is not going to keep any investor awake at night, but it is scant on detail about the core area of concern; namely how is the company going to get its output up. News: October 01, 2012 IGas Energy Agrees To Buy Singleton From Providence Resources As The Irish Company Continues Its Offshore Push IGas Energy may be best known for its ambitions in the unconventional gas space but the coal bed methane specialist is also amassing a rather nice onshore oil business.  Last week AIM-quoted IGas announced it plans to spend US$66 million buying the Singleton oilfield from Providence Resources as well as 50 per cent of the Baxter’s Copse oil discovery and the Burton Down prospect, all in West Sussex. News: September 27, 2012 TXO plc Seeks New Start In Tasmania And Increases Its Exposure To Waste Oil Recycling Project In The Bahamas It’s been a rather lean year in terms of newsflow from TXO plc, which has reinvented itself as an investing company targeting the energy and clean technology sectors.  But this week opened with a flurry of announcements as the AIM microcap, which used to operate stripper wells in Texas, has formed a new exploration joint venture in Tasmania and increased its holdings in Grand Bahama Group, which is seeking to build a waste oil recycling business in Freeport Grand Bahamas. News: September 27, 2012 Kea Petroleum Plans Fast-Track To First Oil From Puka-1 Oil Strike Good  news for investors in Kea Petroleum, which less than three years from its AIM IPO has announced its first commercial discovery from its Taranaki Basin acreage in New Zealand. Flow test and pressure data has now confirmed that the Puka-1 well, which this summer flowed at a maximum rate of 310 barrels of light oil per day and 1.8 million cubic feet of gas per day through capacity-constrained surface equipment, is commercial.  A follow-up well, Puka-2, will be drilled as soon as possible using a larger rig to allow for higher flow rates.  A 3D seismic survey is also planned to identify future drilling locations. News: September 26, 2012 Gulfsands Petroleums Seeks Out New Opportunities As Its Syrian Operations Remain Under Force Majeure As the situation in Syria continues to deteriorate, and anti-Western feeling erupts across the Middle East and North Africa following that now notorious YouTube video, life doesn’t get any easier for Gulfsands Petroleum.  The AIM-quoted company has been hit hard by the Syrian conflict and following the imposition of EU sanctions in December 2011 declared force majeure on its oil rich Block 26, decimating production and cashflow.
