Minesite Weekly Roundup 29th October - 5th November 2013 Dear Minesite subscriber, Weekly Review The UK economy looks to be picking up. The debt pile is still huge, and growing, but at least the economy is growing with it. Indeed it's growing at such a rate that Grant Thornton no less now reckons the British economy is the fastest growing of all the Western economies. No talk now from the British Labour party of a Plan B. Instead the focus is on cost of living, and specifically energy bills, which touches a few raw nerves. In the meantime, as the gold price stagnates, London property prices are soaring away. Does a London penthouse currently look a better bet than a stash of bullion in a safe? - you betcha. But for the really big upside, the explorers and developers remain the best game in town. Solgold's gains over the past few weeks have been well documented on these pages, and were covered again in last week's offering (see below). At one point in the year, the shares had risen eightfold. Another company that has effectively been mining the market is Stratex, which we also covered last week. This company has been able to go from a standing start and minimal fundraise six or seven years ago, to a position in which it generated US$27 million in deals in the last year, and has now attracted the open attentions of Rick Rule, who has been buying on the market. Meanwhile, big money (£17 million) has just gone into Sable Mining, which is working up iron ore assets in Guinea. Clearly life in the sector yet. So even if property does look better than physical metal right now, don't forget the junior market.
