Minesite Weekly Roundup 5th - 12th November 2013 Dear Minesite subscriber, Weekly Review New money came into Amara Mining last week – US$10 million of it. Were shareholders downhearted at the additional dilution? If they were, they didn't show it. The shares actually rose by nine per cent on the day, and have held on to the gains. Having said that, Amara's share price is still a shadow of its former self. At 14.25p, the shares are up nearly 40 per cent on the 12 month lows hit in July, but a long way off the 60p-plus levels that they were trading at this time last year. What does this tell us? One, that equity markets are still very tough. New investors will come in, but not at any significant premium. Interestingly, the exact price of the Amara raise wasn't spelled out, but working back from the numbers that were provided, the deal looks to have been done at 13.3p, which was modestly higher than the previous closing price. But the second point that's worth noting is that there is money out there, and when companies raise it, prices are now more likely to go up rather than down. The days of the distressed sellers looking for liquidity events to provide limited strength to sell into are over. Instead, companies with good news will now generally get a positive, if not a spectacular reaction in the market. Does that mean we're over the worst? A short glance at Amara's share price graph shows that if we are, the good times aren't exactly rolling. In some respects gold is a special case, as the actions of the Fed in limiting its easing process are crucial to setting the price. But be that as it may, as far as the junior mining equity markets are concerned, most of the distressed sellers are now gone.
