Latest News News: April 17, 2013 GeoPark Holdings Delivers Another Strong Year As Its Colombian Acquisitions Contribute To 124 Per Cent Jump In Revenues AIM-quoted GeoPark Holdings spent over US$100 million in 2012 adding a Colombian leg to its business – it also, wisely, shrank its exposure to Argentina – in a move that is already paying dividends through increased production and cash flows.  Revenues jumped 124 per cent to US$250 million and net income was up 264 per cent at US$18 million as the company digested increased output from its existing asset base in Chile and the newly acquired acreage in Colombia. News: April 16, 2013 Nighthawk Energy Pumps More Barrels In March As Its Mississippian Oil Discovery Overtakes Its Shale Play Shares in Nighthawk Energy, which is due to present at Oilbarrel.com's May 16 conference, jumped more than 20 per cent in morning trading recently as the AIM-quoted small cap announced record production numbers.  The company's production tally in March hit 372 bpd, taking the quarterly average to 313 bpd, up 63 per cent on Q4 2012.  This is pretty much a ten-fold improvement on the 30 bpd dribble of late 2011, which saw investors lose faith in the company's shale ambitions in Colorado. News: April 15, 2013 Canada’s Valeura Energy Steps Up Turkish Exploration With New Thrace Basin Acquisition Canada’s Valeura Energy has extended its presence in Turkey’s upstream sector, where it hopes to unlock the country’s tight gas potential. The company, which is listed in Toronto, and holds some interests in Western Canada, announced last  this week that it had signed a new exploration permit, for the Banarli Licence 5104, in the Thrace Basin of northwest Turkey. Market Overview: April 12, 2013 Concerns About Sluggish Demand Casts An Air Of Pessimism Over Oil Markets An air of pessimism hit the oil market this week and investors and traders were swift to react and hit the sell button. US inventories are at their highest levels in years and demand is sluggish. In early trading on Friday, Brent crude was at an eight-month low below US$104 with WTI lingering above US$93 a barrel. News: April 11, 2013 North Uist And Darwin Wildcats Miss The Target For Faroe Petroleum April has been something of a dour month for Faroe Petroleum, which appears, temporarily, to have lost its former winning streak with the drillbit and this month issued two disappointing well results.  Investors will be hoping this isn't shaping up for a rerun of last year, when the AIM-quoted company drilled seven wells, of which two were clear discoveries – Butch, early in 2012, and then Rodriguez, which completed post year-end. The run of dusters hit the 2012 results, generating write-offs of more than £70 million although the impact was narrowed by its pool of tax losses.  And, as the company points out, its stand-out successes of 2010 and 2011 mean its “overall discovery rate is well ahead of the industry average”. Nothing spectacular, so far, but there is plenty of room for growth, it reckons. Last year, in an investor presentation, it said that it has hopes of growing production up to 12,500 boepd by the end of 2015.
