This was helped by the fact that the venue, The Brewery on Chiswell Street, was midway through its seasonal Fairytale of New York makeover, complete with skyscrapers and a yellow cab parked in the courtyard.  This provided an interesting backdrop for the oil and gas executives, investors, financiers and lawyers who attended our 56th conference. News: December 11, 2012 PA Resources Undertakes Financial Restructuring To Limit The Damage Caused By The Troubled Azurite Field It has been a dismal year for shareholders in Sweden's PA Resources, with the shares down 90 per cent as persistent production problems with its flagship Azurite oilfield in the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) weakened its financial position and put the company at risk of bankruptcy.  That now looks to have been averted by a radical debt restructuring and rights issue. Buoyed by the initial success of Leyshon’s maiden gas well in the Ordos Basin in north-central China, the company’s shares hit a four year high of 25.5pence  in late November, before giving back some of those gains as the euphoria of the first hit wore off, and realisation set in that there’s still more work to be done. Indeed, when it was de-merged from mostly UK onshore E & P and fellow AIM-listed junior Egdon Resources in January 2008, it was named Portland Gas after the place in Dorset in southern England where its then flagship gas storage project was sited. News: December 10, 2012 Wessex Exploration Knocked By Zaedyus-2 Result But More Drilling To Come   Tullow Oil's golden touch was was bruised last week when the results came in from the Zaedyus-2 appraisal well offshore French Guiana. The well, now operated by farm-in partner Shell, found oil shows in 85 metres of reservoir quality sands but was found not to be in communication with the 2011 breakthrough discovery well, which was the first proof of Tullow's hypothesis that the West African Transform Margin play would be mirrored off South America. Market Overview: December 07, 2012 Geopolitics And Uncertainty Of Global Economy Likely to Add Volatilty to Oil Markets Until Year End The fundamentals of the oil market have been relatively steady all year but the uncertainty of the global economy and the fragile state of geopolitics will add volatility until the end of the year. In early trading on Friday, oil had recovered slightly with Brent crude priced around US$107 with WTI trading above US$86 a barrel. Full story... News: December 06, 2012 UK Government Puts Gas At Centre Of Energy Policy And Prepares To Green Light Shale Drilling  The UK Chancellor George Osborne inflamed environmentalists on Wednesday when he put natural gas at the heart of future energy policy and began to lay the groundwork for shale gas drilling in the UK.  The Government says gas has a major role to play in decarbonising the UK's power sector by 2030 and is putting in place a package of support, including capacity auctions and increased flexibility in the planning system, to make sure new gas-fired power stations get built in the next two decades to stave off an energy crisis.
