Minesite Weekly Roundup 26th November - 3rd December 2012 Dear Minesite subscriber, Weekly Review It's a big week in the junior resources space. First off, it's Mines & Money, London's biggest mining conference, which is already officially underway. Canada Day flew by on Sunday, and today is Australia Day, which any South African cricket fans will most likely to be heading to in droves. Tomorrow the main event gets underway, and it looks like it'll be a pretty lively affair, notwithstanding that the equity markets are mired in gloom. And then on Thursday, we'll be hosting our very own Minesite Christmas forum at the Brewery with a packed schedule comprising eight quality offerings and kicking off at a prompt 9:30. That, too, promises to be a lively affair. Why, you may ask, given that share prices in all markets are touching 12 month lows? Paradoxically, it's the very depth of the equity market malaise that will keep things humming, as companies and their directors have now realised that this is no blip. For the medium term, equity market weakness is the reality, and anyone who wants to get on and do business better accept that fact. So, alternative financing deals are the order of the day. A case in point is Amara's recent deal with Samsung, which was well received by the market, and appears to set the company up with development funding for some time to come. That deal was with an end user, but they will come from producers too. The majors continue to outsource exploration, and as long as they do, the junior explorationists will be in business, even if they do have to give away increasingly large pieces of the pie. This morning Canaccord painted a fairly robust picture of the state of affairs at Rio Tinto. "Rio Tinto offers strong EBITDA growth through 2015", began the broker, before outlining specific areas of expansion, including at the Oyu Tolgoi copper mine, and in iron ore production in Australia. The squeeze may be on in the equity markets but the Supercycle has not gone away, and no one is even suggesting that it has.
